About the Swedish language
Swedish is a North Germanic language spoken natively by about 10 million people. It is the most widely spoken North Germanic language. Most of the native speakers live in Sweden, where it is the official language. In Åland, an autonomous region of Finland, the vast majority of the population speaks Swedish. It is the sole official language there.
Reasons to learn Swedish
Swedish is the most widely spoken North Germanic language and it is spoken both in Sweden and in parts of Finland. That makes it an interesting language if you love Northern Europe. If you are interested in Swedish culture or literature and you want to get to know the Swedish people better, learning Swedish is important. Speaking English makes learning Swedish a little easier. Speaking another (North) Germanic language is an even greater advantage. Finally, it should also be mentioned that Swedish is a beautiful and interesting language!
